How to Block iliad SIM

Unfortunately, these things can happen to anyone: don’t get discouraged, and try to remedy the situation. How? By blocking the SIM and preventing any wrongdoer from using it to your detriment.

How do you block it if you have no idea? Don’t worry because in this guide, I will explain how to block the iliad SIM, both in case of theft/loss and damage to the SIM. After explaining this, in the last part of the article, I will also tell you how to request a replacement SIM.

Preliminary Information

Before diving deep into this article, I must provide you with some preliminary information regarding this procedure, illustrating when and why it’s necessary to block a SIM (of iliad, just like any other provider).

As I partially anticipated in the introduction, blocking a SIM is fundamental when it is lost or stolen: this is because by blocking it, other people cannot improperly use it to make calls, send messages, or browse the Internet.

Additionally, the SIM should be blocked if it has become demagnetized or otherwise deteriorated. This way, you can initiate the procedure to request a replacement and return to using your phone number to contact others and be contacted.

Keep in mind that starting from November 7, 2022, all operators have certain obligations related to SIM replacement and number portability, introduced to prevent SIM swap, the scam whereby a user changes the account holder without the user’s knowledge.

To request a replacement SIM, an operation that can only be performed by the account holder and is also necessary in case of changing operators, you must provide the old non-functional SIM or, in case of theft or loss, the relevant report. You will also need to attach a copy of a valid ID and your tax code.

The mobile operator is obliged to identify the requester, and through a validation system via SMS or call, certify the user’s true intent.

How to Block iliad SIM in Case of Theft

Let’s start with the procedure related to theft/loss of the card and see how to block the iliad SIM in case of theft (or loss). Essentially, you need to send a form (via mail or fax) available on the iliad website and it must be accompanied by the report of theft or loss of the SIM; therefore the first thing you need to do is to go to the competent authorities and file a report of what happened.

Afterward, to obtain the SIM blocking form, go to this page of the iliad site and click on the link Request to Block/Unblock iliad SIM and IMEI Code. On the page that opens, you will be able to view the form in PDF format, which you need to download.

Once downloaded, print the document that you downloaded on your computer or phone, fill it out with your name, surname, tax code, residential address, user ID, phone number, etc. Also specify the reason for your SIM blocking request (Theft or Loss) and indicate that you also want to block the IMEI by checking the corresponding box Block the IMEI code of your mobile device, confirming the reason (again Theft or Loss), indicating the IMEI code of the lost device along with the SIM.

For completeness, I want to inform you that the IMEI block with iliad can also be done by phone by calling 177 (the call is unfortunately not free from a non-iliad number), press the following keys in sequence: 1 and 5 (keeping in mind that the button combination may change, so carefully listen to the instructions of the voice guide) and ask the operator who assists you to proceed with the IMEI block.

At this point, you are ready to send your request to iliad. If you want to do this by mail, send the filled-out form (also attaching a copy of a valid ID and the copy of the theft or loss report you filed with the authorities) to the following address.

Alternatively, you can send everything by fax, using the number +39 02 30377960, which also works from abroad.

How to Block iliad SIM in Case of Demagnetization/Deterioration

Have you wondered how to block the iliad SIM in case of demagnetization or deterioration? Well, in fact, the procedure to follow is the same as indicated in the previous chapter.

In this case, you also need to download the appropriate block and replacement form from the iliad site, fill it out as I explained earlier (the only thing that changes is the reason for the request, which is Destruction/Deterioration) and send it along with a copy of a valid ID to the following address.

How to Request iliad SIM Replacement

Have you come to this guide to know how to request the replacement of the iliad SIM? Please note that the replacement of the SIM has a cost of 9.99 euros and your number, the active offer on it, and, of course, the remaining credit will be maintained.

How to Block iliad SIM Online

If you want to block the iliad SIM online, you can do so using your Personal Area from the official iliad website.

To proceed with the blocking request, go to the official iliad page, then press the Personal Area button and enter your login credentials. Once inside, choose the My Options section on the left column.

Scroll down to find Send Documentation and by clicking on the pencil icon, you will access a page from which you can send various forms. Selecting Block/Unblock iliad SIM/IMEI Request.

There, enter a message if necessary, in the appropriate section, then attach the form and your ID through the respective buttons and press the Send button. As already mentioned, if you want the block for theft or loss, you must first file a report with the competent authorities.

How to Block iliad SIM from Abroad

If you want to block your iliad SIM from abroad, the procedure is not very different from what has already been mentioned. You can do everything calmly from the iliad website, as I showed you in the previous chapter, but I realize that it might be too slow of an operation.

In that case, I suggest you call the support number, which is no longer 177, as this is available only from Italy. If you are abroad, the iliad support number to contact is +39.351899517, with costs varying depending on rates and your location.

This can become a terribly expensive operation if you are far from home, but there are solutions. You can call this number using calling services like Viber or similar apps that will allow you to reduce costs.

How to Temporarily Block an iliad SIM

Do you want to know how to temporarily block an iliad SIM? The answer is in all the chapters of this guide, indeed, as you will have noticed, that the site requests the block/unblock of the iliad SIM. The block, once requested, is not permanent and can be revoked.

This means that first, you will have to block it using the indicated procedures. Then, to unblock it, you simply need to indicate the unblocking option in the form to fill out, and then send it according to the indicated method. There are no faster methods.
